Welcome

This website has been designed as a friendly and helpful tool to support migrant workers in their time in the UK.

This site has been created by Unite, Britain's biggest union and is supported by an association of voluntary and community groups, universities, specialist agencies and learning organisations, all of which work closely with migrant workers.

The aim of all these organisations is to see justice, fair treatment and equality for all workers and their families and to help ensure that exploitation, racism and other abuses are avoided.

This site has been designed to help migrant workers to get to know the local community, understand what they are entitle to, know their rights and responsibilities and benefit from not just living and working in the UK, but playing a full part in UK society.

This website contains a wide range of information that you will find useful both at work and in society in general and is divided into seven key sections:

  • Welcome from Unite: About Unite, support at work and how you can join Britain's biggest union
  • Your rights: An introduction to basic rights at work, health and safety issues and what to do if you need help at work
  • News and events: The latest updates on what's happening around the country
  • Resources: Your guide to living and working in the UK
  • Learning zone: Education and training opportunities
  • Your region: The Migrant Workers Support Unit where you are
  • Contact: How to get in touch with us
